MS Advantage

Madison County and Mississippi can provide your company with several outstanding incentive programs designed to help you succeed. Our partnership begins with the initial contact and never ends. Madison County Economic Development Authority is committed to attracting new business and industry to the region while continually assisting our existing industry on a daily basis. Take a look at what we have to offer and we think you’ll agree that Madison County is committed to helping you succeed.

Economic Development Reform Act

This act is an innovative and comprehensive package of reforms and initiatives that offer a streamlined yet balanced set of programs to new or expanding industries. These programs include jobs tax credits and many other programs which strengthen and revitalize Mississippi's economic development capabilities.

Low Unemployment and Worker's Compensation Rates

Mississippi's unemployment trust fund is the fifth most solvent in the nation. Because Mississippi's trust fund is so solvent, the state has been collecting interest from the Treasury while other states whose funds are depleted have had to borrow money and pay, rather than earn interest. In addition, Grant Thornton ranked Mississippi's workers compensation rates per $100 of payroll as one of the lowest in the nation.

Right to Work Law

This law guarantees, through the state constitution, an individual's freedom of choice regarding union membership.

Abundant Energy

Reliable, affordable sources of energy are available in Mississippi to meet current and future needs of the state's industries and residents. To encourage economic development, the utility companies have initiated a program of incentive rate pricing for new or existing manufacturing industries that relocate or expand in Mississippi.

Foreign Trade Zones

Mississippi has two foreign trade zones: Mississippi State Port at Gulfport and the Port of Vicksburg/Jackson International Airport. Here foreign or domestic merchandise may enter without formal customs entry, payment of customs duties, or government excise taxes.

Free Industrial Start-Up Training

A training program for new or expanding industries provides a work force custom tailored to company standards at little or no cost to the company.

Productive Labor at Reasonable Rates

Mississippi offers business and industry an abundance of qualified workers who have a reputation for being highly productive. Mississippi has one of the lowest work stoppage rates in the nation. Union membership also is low in comparison to the rest of the country. Mississippi offers one of the most affordable wage rates to be found in the United States.

Available Sites and Buildings

Bargain prices on available industrial buildings and fully developed plant sites around the state provide start-up opportunities for projects on a fast track.

Innovative Financing

Mississippi has a variety of financing alternatives, which supplement conventional sources of revenue for industries locating or expanding in the state.

Pro-Business Government

Mississippi is a leader in the establishment of incentives to attract industrial growth. This is made obvious by a number of innovative programs enacted by the state, as well as the cooperative effort between political leaders and the state's businesses who work together to keep Mississippi competitive.
